PNF or MET Stretching

Proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) or Muscle Energy Technique (MET) is a type of stretch for a particular muscle and its specific movement, where the client gently engages the muscle with the therapist resisting so no movement takes place. The client then relaxes and the therapist gently stretches the muscle with the client now relaxed.

Trigger Points

Trigger points are tiny areas of hypersensitivity within the muscle that have the following attributes:
Unlike injured or inflamed tissue, the pain / sensitivity actually subsides if you hold a constant pressure.
Similar patterns of trigger points can be mapped on people.

NMT (Neuromuscular Techniques)

NMT is technique that treats trigger points and aims to reduce hypersensitivity and restore normal muscle function. Typically a constant pressure is held for between 8 and 10 seconds or until the client reports the area no longer hurts.
