Holistic Facial Acupuncture (Me Rong Zhen) is a Chinese Medical technique that strongly focuses on the improvement of your skin’s performance.
This ancient cosmetic treatment, known to be exclusive to the Empress status of China between 475–221 BC influences the epidermis texture by reawakening it to:
- increase localcirculation of blood and lymph around the face
- reduce signs of stress and emotional imbalance
- lift and improve elasticity of skin and muscle tone
- eliminate fine lines; brighten up deep wrinkles
- help decrease redness, discolouration or puffiness
- produce more collagen
As the Chinese believed that the eyes were the mirrors of the soul, this extraordinary facial treatment enhances the eye gaze by stimulating the brightness and shininess within.
The treatment starts with taking a complete medical history. I ask about the past illnesses as well as current health quality and lifestyle choices. Followed by the pulse and tongue diagnosis, the choice of distal (hands and feet) acupuncture points is selected to support the flow of energy and possible detoxification as well as to make sure the balance between the top and bottom of the body is obtained (Heaven-Earth-Man principle).
Next a rejuvenating and lifting massage, is combined with gentle cupping and and a cooling face roller to stimulate and energise the skin.
This is followed by between 15 to 25 sterile and disposable, hair-thin needles being inserted into your pre-cleansed face, each individually applied to your skin’s textural needs. They remain in the body for 20 minutes. Following the removal of needles, I finish the treatment with a gentle face and neck massage.
In general, the insertion of needles is painless, though in more innervated areas, there may be a momentary prickly sensation.
Each session gradually increases skin’s natural repairing process therefore a course of four treatments is recommended for gradual and sustainable results that affect the whole body.
